Rijksmuseum van Oudheden
Het Jaar 1000
2023
Shosho was responsible for all the AV's in this exhibition.
The middle of the Middle Ages, the period 900-1100, often seems an episode in history where nothing happened. But for what is now the Netherlands, these are in fact times of great changes in landscape, construction, climate, language and society. The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the landscape of this medieval world, with the year 1000 as its final destination.
For many, it seemed possible thateverything might come to an end with the turn of the millennium. As they approached the year 1000, Christians across the world saw omens in solar eclipses, floods and comet appearances.
This AV was the final piece of the exhibition and consisted of two projections, one overhead and one on the side.
An asteroid appears and travels overhead, shooting past the constellation gemini and shoots off debris into the distance
